For all your site preparation needs
In 1979, Jens (Slim) and Dorothy Bach started Slimdor Holding Ltd. Their first project was the reclamation of the Canmore Coal Mines, a 3,000 acre site mostly contained in the area now known as Three Sisters. Shortly thereafter, Slimdor was awarded a major mining contract for Steele Brothers Canada, which was held until 1981.
In 1982, Slimdor was successful in being awarded another contract which was to mine raw materials for Lafarge Canada at the Exshaw cement plant.
Jens' son Rich purchased the company in 1988 under the current name of Slimdor Contracting Ltd. The Lafarge contract had expanded to include processing and selling of rip rap, maintenance and labor work at the plant as well as several construction projects at the plant site. Slimdor had also been awarded construction and maintenance contracts for three municipal landfills. In addition, Slimdor had held the contract with Alberta Environmental Protection for flood protection, riverbank restoration, trail maintenance and campground construction.
The Lafarge contract came to an end in 2007 by which time Slimdor had expanded its operations into the civil construction market, primarily performing earthmoving and water/sewer construction for commercial and infrastructure projects.
Slimdor continues to work in these field today, with projects spanning all over southern Alberta, mainly in the Calgary area. With the additional experience in demolition, environmental and mining projects, Slimdor is able to confidently complete a wide range of projects.
